I have a Compact Flash card loaded with ROS 5.6 that I was using in a Pentium 4 PC and was working fairly okay. I decided to put the same compact flash card in an Alix board. I worked after some minor configuration changes. I then decided to upgrade to the latest X86 ROS. I followed normal procedure to upgrade by copying the .npk files to the Files section and rebooted the board. that was the last of it, it never booted again!!! Now I guess I have to re-install ROS. How can I retrieve my license key before reinstalling? TIA
No one has been unlucky like me? Pls advise. TIA.
I’ve had similar issues. MT helped me out with a new key the first time, had to pay $10 the second time.
I don’t know of any way to get your key.
use netinstall to reinstall mikrotik, read up on wiki about it, I’m fairly sure that there is a way to reinstall and keep the license.
I’ve used netinstall to re-install ROS on a routerboard and a part of that process was the formating of the storage memory. I am assuming that the same thing will happen to the Compact flash card that I used, so I am a bit scared to try it.
Any Guru can confirm how not to lose my license? Maybe the info is on a different partition? Pls advise. TIA.
Still looking for a solution to this problem. Any other advise?
if i am right, then software ID should be the same after install…
