Hello, I have had a problem on our CCR1009-8G-1S where all the GRE tunnels went down. When I watched the tunnels, I could see that nothing was being sent over it. I had Keepalive turned on but I never saw any outgoing packets.
To try and fix it I tried turning keep alive off and back on, but didn’t help.
I didn’t think of disabling and re-enabling the GRE tunnels until later.
I ended up rebooting the router and that fixed things.
Is this a known problem or is there something I should know about GRE tunnels over IPsec that I am missing?
I am fairly new to Mikrotiks and to OSPF over GRE over IPsec too. But when it works, it rocks!
And it failed again over the holiday weekend. I wish I could switch to IPIP but I need multicast for OSPF. While I was diagnosing the problem, I tried to disable one of the GRE tunnels and it’s associated IPSec peer/policy then re-enable it but that did not bring up the tunnel.
So I ended up rebooting the router and then all GRE tunnels came back up.
This is really annoying as this is one of our core routers. And GRE is such a simple protocol – what in the world is going on here?!
