Allow user to create only 1 account per day

Hi All,

I am not sure if I have missed it in the documentation or could not find a post about it so here goes:

I want to limit people from creating multiple user accounts per day. Is this at all possibly by limiting the mac address that the account creation is coming from to only be allowed to create 1 per day ?

I have a hotspot with trial enabled, but when the trial limit is reached I want users to then register to get another x amount of time for free and pay for time there after. I do not want users to be able to create multiple users to use the free profile on all of them.

Thanks,
Travis

If memory serves - the trial account is based on the MAC address of the user, and counts down to zero time remaining based on how long they’re logged into the system, after which the test account stays in the system indefinitely, so that would mean that they could only create 1 account from any given MAC address ever.

Thanks for the reply - the trial account seems to be created in the hotspot section of Mikrotik itself and does remain there, but for the signup I am using usermanager where the new user will be created there.

I am looking for a way to limit users by their mac address from creating more than one user per day in user manager.

Ah - that makes sense. I’m not a userman user, so I’m going to duck out now, but I suppose you could use the in-hotspot trial user function, and turn off trial accounts in usermanager…

Nothing like charging money to limit the number of accounts someone will create.
(Or to at least be glad that they open lots of accounts)
