I have the above mentioned modem through Time-Warner, which seems to have a built-in DHCP server that cannot be disabled, at least not by any conventional means. I can access the web based control panel for it, but there aren’t any options for disabling DHCP on it. I can telnet into it also, but there aren’t any command available that I can find.
So, I guess I have two questions.
Anyone know of a way to turn the DHCP off on this modem?
If not, is there a way that I could still use the MT 450 router I purchased and still get the public IP and use the MT like everyone else does? Right now, I have it configured just like the instructions for the home DSL except for the PPPoe, which isn’t applicable here. When I connect everything, the DHCP client gets a local address from the modem and will not get the public address. This is at a business location.
I also have an MT 350 installed at my house through a different cable internet provider, and mine works fine. Of course I have a “normal” cable modem.
If there’s no way to fix this, I’ll call Time-Warner and get them to give me a different modem.
I’ve been searching for days, and haven’t had any luck finding an answer.
Thanks,
Dan
