Android USB Tether end up with dissapointment.

past 2 week I’ve already tested usb tehter on mikrotik
I’am using RB-951Ui-2HnD with ROS 6.34.1

my config
ether-1 => Lan
ether-2 → hotspot briged
ether-3 → none
ether-4 → none
ether-5-> pppoe adsl
wireless1-> hotspot briged
lte1-> unlimited data plan 4G

I use the PPPoE for ICMP, gaming port only and udp and using Lte1 using for HTTP/HTTPS port and Quic protocol Port

everything run OK until for sometime it reach the max speed or high data packet.
here what happen
log file dchp on lte1 stop locally and repeated.
when run ping to google some time the latency high or request time out
the problem that dchp client on mikrotik release by it self

for now my only solution is to use Wifi tether until this thing solved.
ether-1 => Lan
ether-2 → hotspot briged
ether-3 → none
ether-4 → none
ether-5-> pppoe adsl
wireless1-> station for wifi tether
in Wifi tether run very smooth ping are so stable.

please anyone can’t give advise on this thing or this bug from ROS.
tested on ROS 6.19, 6.32. 6.34, 6.34.1 same result.

To clarify what you are trying to accomplish:

1. you are connecting your phone via usb cable to the router
2. the internet connection is provided by the phone
3. your PC connects to the router and gets its connection to the internet

Please confirm that is the correct description.

I am looking to do the same thing and am curious how you set it up if you have more directions than what was provided in your original post. I also wonder if in providing the additional info you might help others diagnose your problem.

• what phone and what software on phone is allowing the tether?
• how long does the connection work? ie pc has internet via router + phone
• does the lte stop regularly (example when phone goes idle or timer setting)?

I think the answer of your question already answered with my interface setting. but to ok I will answer it.

1. lte1 interface only active when usb / mini pci card connected so yes I use usb cable to connect to router.
2. I got 2 Line one ADSL for gaming and LTE for Browsing so yes the the phone provide internet for browsing only.
3. I use internal LAN and Hotspot as output from router. check my interface list.

*it’s a cheap phone $60 but capable of 4G unlimited quota in my country it’s android lollipop it has built-in tether. usb wifi or bluetooth.
*the connection always work for this past 2 week but drop frequently about 10 times or more in a day.with usb tether. I used USB POWER RESET to drop lte interface than reconnect it.

• first week it only not respon (no data connection) but second week lte drop frequenly..

now I only use wifi tehter to solved the problem
if wifi tether work fine why does usb not working well.
