I want to connect a android phone via usb to a router to provide internet to pcs connected to the router. I have not previously used Mikrotik routers and have the following questions:
- Which Mikrotik routers can do this?
- Does the usb provide power to the phone?
- Is the usb-tethered data throughput limited (ie < what phone or router itself might provide otherwise)?
- Is there a clear step-by-step guide to setup such a connection?
-
- phone software (PdaNet or other) and settings
- router software settings
- Can the usb-tethering work with more than 1 phone (not concurrently)
-
- ie use the phone that is present for internet access, but can swap which phone is used
- Reasons other than data plan that I might not want to do this.
-
- ie arguments for why a phone wifi hotspot to router connection to pcs would be better
