Another newbie. Seems to work but intermittant.

Hi I have been here before but I am now trying a different avenue. Previously I was more desperate to get my 3D printer connected to a wifi network so I could print some urgent parts.

Now thats solved (using direct connection) I am revisiting the project.

Essentially I am after advice to see what my best route is. My wifi is from a Virgin media Super Hub hard wired to the Mikrotik box that is in the back room near the garage..I would like wifi in the backroom and garages to run my chromecasts that are on all TV’s

I have screen shot the setup as I have very little clue what I am doing other than it works but the chrome casts are stuttering and soon drop signal all together.

They all work fine when in the same room as my Virgin box.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I will of course keep reading up on what might be my issue but it might be an easy fix…heres hoping.

OK its me again. lol

I have had a few major problems over Xmas and the new year but if I dont pick myself up and be determined not to be beaten I will end up in the gutter.

Anyway I am hoping some kind person will humour me and point me in the right direction.

I have recently found out that My Virgin Medi Super Hub was faulty. Having added a new Router and switched the superhub 2 into modem mode my wifi is now rock solld.

SO now I have moved my switch into the back room and its fed from the new router. IT works perfect with no reconfiguratioin etc.

What I am needing to do is reset my hap ac Lite so I can take a lead from the switch in my back room and use the hap ac lite as a wireless access point I think its termed so I can walk between room and my wifi does not need altering on my phone.

In your hands folks.

Not clear from your posting where your WiFi is coming from now. The assumption is your “new router.” Is it a MikroTik router or what?

Also assuming that you are asking how to turn your hAP ac lite into a simple wireless access point with no other functionality.

In brief, put all the interfaces into a simple bridge, then set up the desired wireless interface parameters (ap-bridge, SSID, security key, frequency). You may want to set up a DHCP client on the bridge interface, so the hAP pulls an IP address of its own for debugging purposes. Everything else pretty much falls out.
