Antenna Cover for Solid Parabolic Antenna...

Hi all…
Any one have idea, what is the best material if we wanna DIY the antenana cover for best sensitivity and to prevent side interference or side lobe signal.

The ring around the outside edge is metallic to block radio waves. Probably aluminum. The covering is non-metallic to pass radio waves. It could be anything from tyvek to goatskin. It should not absorb water though so forget the goatskin.

Simple water test. Weigh it. Soak it in water. Weigh it again to make sure it has not gained weight.

i saw inside the ring is with the foam.
it’s that important???

Foam is usually used for mechanical support and is transparent to radio waves unless it is treated with metal.

It is also possible that the “foam” is used to absorb microwave to improve the performance of the antenna and prevent/reduce reflection that may occur from the shroud. There are various type of microwave absorbing material out there and they vary widely in performance and cost.
