Well i make a lot of tests using 802.11n getting very good connections in some short distance backhauls, now from your experience i need some advice about what antenna configuration is best to make a 50km Backhaul.
What’s best? using 2 different antennas in different polarization? which distance between them? , using one dual polarization antenna, solid? grid?
From my experience (15km link 5.4Ghz N, 2x dual pol 850mm dishes) if you have a winderful line of sight, go for dual-polarisation, but if you are not constrained by space on towers it would be the best idea to choose 2 pairs of good dishes with single horisontal polarrisation separated by 1-2meters in height. Since they don’t cost that much.
Our setup shows that vertical polarisation blows and altogether we get 108mbit (teoretically…) instead of some advertised 300.
I am planning to revise this setup as soon as I get increase in traffic.
Hi There,
I have been getting very good results using Jirous 29dbi Dual Polarity antennas over long distances. I have also had best results using very short pigtails (or none at all)
