I have a mast with an omni on top of it with roughly 40ft of lmr leading to a routerboard. We had a 112 with a prism card in it but recently it has been giving us some problems with one of our customers so we tried replacing it with an SR2. When the antenna is attached to either of the connectors on the SR2, that connector suddenly ceases to work. (while plugged into mmcx, mmcx no longer works, while plugged into ufl, ufl no longer works…) Both connectors work with other antennas attached, and we have tried changing the rb112 out for an rb433 with the same results.
We have tried changing out the SR2 with an r52h and an r52, all with the same results.
The only card that seems to work with this antenna is the prism card.
So two years later and attempting to upgrade this same link after moving many customers off of it. RB112 with 200mw prism card. Attempting to replace with Rb411 and Atheros card. With the prism card we can run a scan and see 20 other access points. When using a DBii pro-20 500mw can only see 7 access points on scan. When using a r52Hn can only see one access point in scan. When using a different RB411AR’a built-in radio can only see 7 access points. All using the same pigtail, same LMR, same antenna.
With the prism card noise floor is -92, with all atheros cards the noise floor is in -60s. With prism card all clients connect around -70, with atheros cards clients do not connect at all or connect in -90s.
The prism card is B-only and needs to be upgraded badly. I would like to replace the LMR and the Antenna but those are not options and the decision is beyond my control. Can anyone offer possible reasons or solutions for this behavior?
