Any hope for long-range 60GHz with 5GHz backup?

The current products are either short-range with 5GHz backup (Cube, CubePro) or long-range without (LHG60, nRay).
The 5GHz backup would be most useful in the long-range products but it is missing there, despite the IPQ4019 chip even including the 5GHz radio (and apparently even some provision for the 5GHz radio in the PCB design, just missing the antenna). Why?

Is there any work being done on a new product that would include both 60GHz and 5GHz in one device with high-gain antenna?
Alternatively, if that is not possible for some regulatory reasons (pure speculation it was something out of MT’s control) - alternatively, make a device with two ethernet ports and PoE-passthrough so that any separate 5GHz radio can be used for backup.

This would allow the neat trick with active/backup bonding, just use the 2nd ethernet port in the bond as the backup which is disabled when primary 60GHz link is up, IMHO this is much better than UBNT’ Wave solution where the AP includes both 60GHz and 5GHz sectors in one device. With MT the backup AP can be a physically separate device (so the backup also protects against 60GHz AP failure) and can also be re-used for 5GHz-only clients (no waste of channel in the already crowded 5GHz band for a rarely used backup).

Or has MT given up on this? That would be really sad. UBNT stuff is overpriced (except the short-range Pico - I can’t imagine the higher antenna gain costs them so much, the high price is “because we can”) and still sells very well because there isn’t much of an alternative, now up to 31 stations per AP, all 6 channels and GPS sync so the channels 5-6 can be re-used on a cluster of 4 APs for nice long range and 360deg coverage. But of course it’s another proprietary vendor lock-in compatible only with itself, and with not very good track record of long-term support (remember EdgeOS?). So as much as I’d like to use MT products, I pay through the nose for UBNT because the longer range allows me to not lose customers to heavily subsidised fiber.
