Any other 900mhz cards besides SR9?

Any other 900mhz cards besides SR9?
I need an inexpensive solution for CPE close to a 900mhz omni - w/in 1/2 mile.
They need to be compatible w/SR9 'cause that is the base.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Rod

None compatible.
I think ZCom makes a card.

I would like to see a cheaper SR9 with a low powered amp. 200mw or less. Something under $100 USD. We’re only allowed 36dB in the US, and with a 15dBi antenna, we’ve got to turn the power down, so that 28dB output isn’t benificial in all cases.

I’d also like to see an SR9ish PCMCIA with a lower power amp for laptop use. Won’t help much with 5 or 10MHz channels, but…

I checked them out but they are not compatible with our system; ie-SR9 or MT.
We have settled on a solution based on SR9 and we need compatible low power-LOW COST 900mhz cards.

Rodneal, there are no cards that are compatible with the SR9 or GZ-901..

Ubiquiti announced a XR9 and LS9 at our Mikrotik training class in San Jose a couple weeks ago. I don’t have pricing information but the XR9’s should be around the same price as the SR9. I don’t know about the LS9. The XR9 and LS9 will NOT be backwards compatible with the SR9. I don’t remember the details of why they aren’t compatible though.. All I remember is that they said it was a very tough decision and that it was for the best.

there was offset in 1 or 2 Mhz frequencies that makes then incompatible.

I’m glad you told me that - I definately will NOT buy anymore SR9’s and I will turn in the ones I have.
I have to have parity accross our network!

It amazes me when Vendors like UB do not make their equipment backward compatible.
I guess they expect us struggling businesses to pick up the expense when I just lost thousands of dollars on the SR2 debacle - I have stacks of SR2’s that I can not do anything with 'cause they are out of warrantee and they are “deaf”.

I love the product when it works but this sucks!!!

What also amazes me that this isn’t listed anywhere that the SR9’s are sold. Don’t you think that it should say on UB XR9 website “this is not compatible with SR9’s”. Would’nt that at least show us a little respect?
Instead thay send all the cards back I sent them - after struggling for a year or so trying to figure out what we had done wrong - saying that they were out of warrantee and yet they all had a defect built into them from the beginning. Doesn’t this scream “class action”? How many of you guys have SR2’s sitting around that you couldn’t figure out what the hell was wrong with them?
I’m pissed.
Thank you for that little tidbit(SR9) uldis - I obviously didn’t know that they were not backward compatible.
I’m very glad we have the forum to share info - I would have been trying for weeks+ to figure that one out!

At our class Ubiquiti said that they would be offering some kind of upgrade/exchange for people switching out to XR9’s..

Have you tried to call Ubiquiti and talk to them about your deaf SR2’s? I’m almost certain they would be willing to work with you on those cards.

The problem with the cards going deaf aren’t limited to just SR2’s.. I have many CM9’s, R52’s, 8602’s, and WLM54G’s that have the exact same symptoms. The cards were/are damaged by improperly grounded antenna’s or antenna’s that are not DC grounded.

Hey Gerard,
Good point(s).
I emailed them and sent them 25 of my SR2’s and they sent me one back - which I was glad to have and thanked the tech for it - and told me they didn’t have a problem of that type but they would keep testing and btw everything I had sent was out of warrantee except that one. I won’t belabor that point 'cause they may have been except to say it took quite some time to find the cards where at fault. If I had known - then it would gotten to them sooner - much. I may have had some that had bad grounding tho we are rather good at grounding but not perfect. We test all grounds to .4 ohms(I think I got that period in the right place).
I have not called about that or the SR9(s). I will tho and ask about a tradeup.
The website needs to say that under the support area.
Luckily I just started and only have 2 - although I a bunch of customers that have paid up front for installation. So I need to move on this.
I just called and got voicemail - I left a message so we will see if they call back.
Thank you for your thoughts,
Rod

Hey All,
OK - to give the devil his due:-) - just ragging on you Mike.
Mike called me back from UB ands said there is an exchange for the SR9 to XR9 and he would let me know as soon as they are released. YEAH Mike!!!
Thank you Gerard!

Also - the SR2s that I sent in got mixed up in a bunch of RMAs and got shipped back by mistake. So he said send them back in for eval. Yeah MIKE!!! and if I would like I could upgrade - for a fee of course (no problem) - to the XR2s. REALLLY YEEAAHH MIKE!!!

So I’ll report back on the echange.

Thanks for the info, Group!! And Gerard!!!

If anyone hears anymore about the expected release date, difference in price, and why/how these will work better, I would love to know more.

I’ve had decent luck with the SR9’s, but they just don’t work in some spots that they should, and I’d be interested to see if the XR9’s help with a lot of the issues we’ve been having. If they get us more range, that helps us save lots of money because of the less towers needed which is a big plus!

maybe you misunderstood my post. I was saying that SR9 isn’t compatible with Zcom card becuase of that 1 or 2Mhz offset. I heard that in future zcom will make the card that would be compatible with SR9.
About the SR9 and XR9 compatibility - I don’t know, you shouls ask ubnt.

From what I remember they should be hitting distribution in early October. They should be around the same cost. Similar to how the current XR’s are to the SR’s.. I don’t remember all of the details but they are supposed to work much better at lower signal strengths and deal with interference better.

Read the spects - Range: 50km(XR9) vs 1km(SR9) with a built in (limited) cavity filter

Release date next week sometime

Good to know that they are releasing a new 900mhz card. I really would like to migrate to 900mhz in my business but have had horrible luck with ubiquity SR-9s. Hopefully I can upgrade them to the XR-9s.
