Anyone ever seen this error...

MikroTik v2.8.17
ABC Apts login: ***********
connect failed (errno=111)
died with signal 6 on Sat Jul 9 18:56:05 2005

Got the above error via console after discovering this router was no longer responding to SNMP requests, but was still responding to WAN ICMP Ping requests.

I tried to Telnet and Winbox into the unit, but was unsuccessful. Decided to make a visit and console into the router. Console gave me a login prompt, but then gave me the above error. After power cycling the router it came right back up and I was able to gain access again.

While I was there I decided to upgrade the firmware to 2.8.28 and enable the watchdog. Three hours later (almost to the minute) the router is again not accessible, not responding to SNMP, but is responding to ICMP ping requests. Again, I can not Winbox or Telnet into the unit and the handful of residential clients we have behind this router are not able to reach the Internet.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brad

Well, we decided to replace the motherboard on this router today. So far so good…

BTW & FYI, MikroTik recomended the DFI NB76-EC motherboard that appears to have failed. All our other MT routers have been built with Intel motherboards and so far not one of those have had any problems.

Best,

Brad
