Maybe i’m just not understanding exactly what these are, but i’m trying to setup a locked panel that all i need to do is double click it and it’ll automatically bring up and layout all my preconfigured charts, my local network map, and my outages box. i’ve set this up and just leave the thing running, but to this point i have not been able to save it so that it’s there when i need it. otherwise you doubleclick on anything and your five minutes of layout work and setup is wiped out by your tools box. if anyone understand what i’m trying to do and has a way of doing it i’d greatly appreciate it. BTW Kudos to whoever came up with the probe thread. talk about a great idea.
Which version are you running? I’ve set up and used panels in 2.2 successfully. In 3b7, I get the same thing. The panel is listed but it remains empty even if I lock after I populate it.
dang, that’s what I was afraid of. oh well. i’ll just need to setup an agent or something that doesn’t get changed. but that’s one heck of a waste of a computer. i’m using 3b7. wonder when they’re going to release a newer version? oh well like you said in another post, it’s free, and i really like the layout too. you seem pretty knowledgeable about the dude. maybe microtik would pay you to re-write their antiquated manual. ![]()
Well, I got a panel called user to remain persistent. It has the map, outages and a log displayed. I was also able to lock it. It appears to be running with no problem. I can even switch between the two on-the-fly. Don’t know what the initial problem was, but it seems to have resolved itself.
well that’s lucky for you, but i wish we knew what caused it. i’ve run into some minor glitches like that in other areas too. for instance when I create charts, if i name the chart before adding the data points, when trying to add data points it’ll say unknown type. so what i do is make the chart, and leave the name as it is. then i go into the chart and add my data points, and then i rename the chart to whatever I want. after that it seems to work fine. funny funny things. beggining to think there should be a bug fix sticky thread on this forum. if anyone’s interested that is.
