Just picked up an 8 port SFP+ Mikrotik cloud router. I’m finding the Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU3M DAC cables I have insert fine but do not properly latch. I tried them all and none of the DACs latch into any port Meaning I or someone cabling could inadvertently pull them out!
My Intel 10gb fibre SFPs and any other SFP work fine. Any recommendations on proper DAC cables to buy? Anyone else with this issue?
Thanks!
I am having the same issue. I am not willing to purchase more DAC cables that don’t latch! My switch is a few days old. I have emailed support as I think the SFP port tolerances are out. These Cisco and Dell DAC latch with any other device in my network.
Well SFP+ DAC cables are not standard at all. All my optical SFP+ have a triangular latch type mechanism, the DAC cables (the Cisco and Dell ones I have tried) are a square to rectangular type latching mechanism. They do not work in a Mikrotik port.
FS.com confirmed their custom cables are triangular mechanism which will work. You specify the A type device end and Z type device end. They build it to order. A win-win all around. I’ll report back when I get them! Others on Reddit report success with these custom cables. Inexpensive too.
