Hi! we have an access point RBcAPGi-5acD2nD. It just works in bridge mode, receiving settings from the Mikrotik router, its function is simply to distribute Wi-Fi. We are arguing with colleagues whether it is necessary to configure any firewall rules on the access point, and opinions differ. Tell me what you think about this. If necessary, which ones? Thanks
Purely as an access point with another router sitting in front, no need to keep firewall on that device.
Unless you want to apply some restrictions which need to be done from that same access point, then it could be possible to have some firewall rules but no full-blown firewall as for a normal router. Depends on the requirements.
My view.
holvoetn, thank a lot !
I would only ensure that the management VLAN has accces to config the AP.
I would also make it accessible on management VLAN via winbox.
