AP-Bridge and Station on the same interface

Greetings to all!

I am trying to make the following setup but i would like a few advice on how to achieve that.

On a mtik lvl4 i have a wireless interface which must work as a station (in order to connect to an access point) and simultaneously as an Ap bridge (so another station connects to that). Those to links have to be routed with BGP.

The point is on how to succeed such a setup. Would it work if i put the interface in station mode and create a virtualAP to work as an AP? Or should i use WDS? (which is something that i am not familiar with)

Thanks in advance

  1. Setup the wlan interface as AP Bridge
  2. Create a bridge interface
  3. Create a Virtual AP with Dynamic WDS
  4. Add the Virtual AP to the bridge
  5. Add IP address to the wlan interface
  6. Add IP address to the bridge interface
  7. Configure BGP

thanks for your reply.
i will check it out in the morning

So the wlan (on AP Bridge), the VirtualAP or the bridge will work as a station?

The virtual AP will work as wds peer with the remote AP (just as if it is in station mode). The frequency of the wlan must be set to that of the remote AP while the SSID of the VirtualAP must also be set to that of the remote AP. You may set the SSID of the wlan to whatever you want.
