AP SSID Assocation problems

I am having a problem getting a 2.9.27 Client Station to see a 2.8.27 AP. If I hide the AP’s ssid the client cant fine it, even with the correct ssid info installedin the client station. If I un-hide the AP’s ssid it connects just fine and works perfectly. Once the client station is connected I can re-hide the AP’s ssid and the client stations works just fine until the Client system is rebooted or shutdown for the night. Then I have to un-hide the AP’ssid again to get it to reconnect. What gives? I am using Senao 2511’s in both systems. I have tried pre/post 2.9.25 and just about every thing else that I could think of. I even RTFM and I just dont see where the problem is. Any thoughts?

That was a known problem in 2.8 I believe. Just upgrade the ap.

Not ready to abandon 2.8 yet. I have waited awhile before going to 2.9 because things were to buggy. Now I hear 3.0 is on its way. Why spend the money just yet. I would like to see a stable product before I upgrade. Its nice to see new features in upgraded versions but not at the expence of a stable network.

I have never had a problem with any client radio that I have put on the AP. This is the first Mikrotik client system that I have put there and it wont function correctly with the AP’s ssid hidden. I feel the problem is in 2.9. This is a very basic application that should work. Maybe I should wait before upgading any new 2.9 stuff. Maybe version 10.1

Well, MikroTik always insists on only supporting the current version, so that is what is necessary for resolution of your issue. A lv5 license lasts 3 years!

2.8 isnt the problem 2.9 is. 2.9 should be backward compatable. I guess I will have to turn on the ssid to get it to work. Thanks any way.
