AP to AP over WDS do not connect

I have set up two AP with WDS
in the log of one the remote I keep seeing
00:15:6d:93:01:7B@wlan1 (which is the other AP’s wireless MAC) : connected, is AP, wants WDS

on the next line
00:15:6d:93:01:7B@wlan1: disconnected no beacon

Any advice

from the command line run:

/interface wireless export

and paste the output here for both AP’s

Main AP

This is your problem on the first router:

add name="wds1" mtu=1500 arp=disabled disable-running-check=no
master-interface=wlan1 wds-address=00:00:00:00:00:00 comment=""
disabled=no

Set WDS mde to ‘dynamic’ or add a static WDS interface… wds-address must correspond to the MAC of the wlan you want to connect to.

If you particularly want a static WDS interface, the easy way is to first use dynamic WDS, then open up the dynamic interface and click ‘copy’.
‘OK’ this, and you have a static interface. If you change the mode to static, then you must also add your static WDS to your bridge port list.

You can still leave WDS mode as dynamic with a static interface defined, and then the bridge port will be added dynamically.

As you have specified wds-mode=static for first AP, you need to add correct entry to ‘interface wireless wds’ section.
‘interface wireless wds add wds-address=remote_MAC_address’, or use wds-mode=dynamic.

Hello friend

This on first AP
/in wir set wlan1 ssid=APVDC band=2.4ghz-b/g frequency=2432 mode=ap-bridge wds-mode=static disabled=no
/in wir wds add name=wds-link master-interface=wlan1 wds-address=00:15:6D:93:0A:7C disabled=no
/ip address add address=1.1.1.1/24 interface=wds-link

This on second AP
/in wir set wlan1 ssid=APVDC band=2.4ghz-b/g frequency=2432 mode=ap-bridge wds-mode=static disabled=no
/in wir wds add name=wds-link master-interface=wlan1 wds-address=00:15:6D:93:0A:7B disabled=no
/ip address add address=1.1.1.2/24 interface=wds-link

Try to ping to second AP with command '/ping 1.1.1.2' from first AP, when is correct, i think you have reply....pinging
if ok...next, must talking how to security for your wireless system.

*) that ip addresses just samples, please change....!!! and that IP address for manage only.

For a while I tought it was working 2ndAP registered with MainAP. They the link died. Now there is nothing.

I can SCAN both AP from each other but neither dynamic WDS nor Static WDS connect. I am so close I can feel it. Maybe I need a step by step guide from the beginning.

I have like that config, only ip, ssid, band, freq, and mac address difference than yours

that's assumsy with static wds

now i just put security. and work fine...

My problem is now resolved.
Here is the setup:
MikroTik 1:
mode: ap bridge
ssid: APVDC
Band: 2.4GHz-B/G
Freq: 2432
WDS
wds mode dynamic
wds default bridge: wds-link
Nstream Disabled / polling enable

BRIDGE:
create bridge wds-link
add ports
wlan1; ether1 and wds1

IP ADDRESS
192.168.10.8/16 Wlan1
192.168.10.45/16 wds-link
192.168.10.108/16 ether1

MikroTik 2:
mode: ap bridge
ssid: APVDC
Band: 2.4GHz-B/G
Freq: 2432
WDS
wds mode dynamic
wds default bridge: wds-link
Nstream Disabled / polling enable

BRIDGE:
create bridge wds-link
add ports
wlan1; ether1 and wds1

IP-ADDRESS
192.168.2.7/16 wlan1 (important must be different sub domains for each MT)
192.168.2.8/16 ether1
192.168.10.46 wds-link (
important all wds link mus be same sub-domain i.e.192.168.**10.**46

Now what I have left is routing internet traffic to my PC connected to any MT , any hints on this would be appreciated.

hmmm… why a different ip on every interface when they’re all bridged?
Surely one IP assigned to the bridge would do the trick?

why a different ip

dunno, havn’t tried.
As for my routing problem that is also fixed, on my pc the Gateways IP needs to be set as the MT Ether1’s IP.

as you do when connected to a router…

Try remove all IP’s and add only one to the bridge, then use that IP with all directions to the router…
