Hi, I seem to be having some strange wifi behavior on my MikroTik hAP lite.
I came back from work one day with no internet connection on the wifi, and after resetting the router and messing with settings I have managed to figure out a few things.
It seems the internet ethernet port (port 1) is no longer working correctly
if I plug in the internet into port 2 then I get internet access but only when connecting directly to the other 2 ethernet ports.
If I connect over wifi, then I do not have any internet access on almost every device
1 device, my android phone has internet over wifi. I have 4 devices that connect and only my android phone is able to get internet over the wifi.
The 4 devices are 1 windows 10 laptop, 1 android, 1 iphone, 1 macbook
I have no experience in setting up any kind of router, so I hope you can help me out. Tell me what you need and where to find it and I’ll update my post with the information.
Reset configuration to default and use ethernet 1 for upstream. If u use ethernet 2 you risk to have 2 dhcp servers in same physical layer. One from the upstream connection and one from the MikroTik hAP lite and devices will get ip from a random one dhcp server. If your device has been compromised you may need to perform a netinstall return it to the default configuration.
Hi Guys, turns out it was something on the ISP side. The white-listed MAC address changed by the ISP which made my router no longer able to access the internet. After changing the MAC address of the router to match one of the new allowable MAC addresses from the ISP then only was it able to transmit internet through the wifi. The reason my PC and phone was able to connect was because it was already on the list of white-listed internet receivers. The 1st ethernet port labeled internet is still busted though, seems like the storm we had did actually damage that port, it was the only one connected to anything.
