Hi Guys, I have a customer whom is subscribed to a 10Mb connection from us. He gets 10Mb all the time.
He has his own personal cinema which connects to the Apple.Tv website and streams tv programs.
I have never ever used this service or know anything about it, but it seems every now and then the service goes down or is constantly rebuffering.
The customer and his apple tech have checked the broadband speed each time this happens and it is always at full speed on a speedtest and their connection never drops either.
At this stage they are blaming their problems on the connection we a providing. Does anyone here know how I would go about troubleshooting this problem? Is it possible our mikrotik core router could be causing these problems?
They are connected to our network using PPPOE on a RB750 which in turn connects back to our main MT edge router.
I would also suspect something like QoS. Does this happen for any other customer with a streaming service such as Netflix? If not, then I would look at doing a bandwidth test from the 750 to the core router and see if over a few minutes the connection fluctuates.
Hi Guys, I have called to this customers house today, and the fault was been described incorrectly to me.
The apple tv service is buffering during peak network usage times as their speed drops.
So I need to priortize this customer some more. My core router is a MT with user manager on it. I just had a look at the user settings.
Would selecting a priority for the customer make any difference? Say priority 1?
