I have looked thru the forum to find the answer but have not.
I have an RB450 with Hotspot installed on Eth2-5. Is there some trick to enabling client access thru AP’s connected to Hotspot interface?
I have verified that I can connect a PC to the interface and the Hotspot works fine, but when I connect an AP to the Hotspot interface a wireless client cannot get an DHCP address. Is there something I need to add? Do the IP addresses of AP’s need to be in the same scope as Hotspot addresses?
The APs should be acting as simple bridges: their wired and wireless interfaces should be bridged. The IP of the AP would be within the hotspot range and would be configured on the bridge.
Or, if the topology and AP OS allows for, feed two VLANs into the wired side of the AP and assign an IP to a management VLAN and bridge the customer VLAN into the radio. That would be preferred.
i have the same problems - no internet acces with wireless clients connected over a ubnt unifi to the mikrotik routerboard in hotpost service.
Ip adresse will be delivered by dhcp the clients get the ip, but there might be some problem/misconfiguration with the routing…
It doesn’t work with fixed ip settings to the unifi (ip, range ok, gateway and dns is in that case the ip from the mikrotik in the hotspot range - correct)
and also not with dynamic ip by dhcp for the unifi ap…
