I wonder what are the differences between radio chips AR9344-DC3A and AR9344-DC3A-R?
Anyone happens to know that?
I am thinking to put external 4db antennas to RB951, like 2011 model has, because I have just a little low RX from the distant client in my house and would like to avoid adding another AP just for one client.
I just worry that AR9344-DC3A might not be tunned for 4db antennas.

Put rather one hap lite on good place. It will cost you almost the same like antennas and the result will be much better.
I was thinking the same, but I dont have wired connection between and I dont wont to loose chains for wifi bridge.
I already have antennas in the drawer and cables, also some faulty wifi internal cards to unsolder mmcx connector from.
How you wish. I would rather think how to run a cable instead. You can try wds mode, do not worry that you would loose chains. Sure it will be slow, but the tryout is for free, just set and test. If not good enough, then run a wire. I do not believe that soldering a pigtails with bigger antennas will help much. But anyway, please, come back with pictures and real results.
