are distributor markings on brand new MikroTik hardware allowed?

Hello

I’ve got a pretty simple question this time: does MikroTik allow dealers to put their markings on brand new hardware and/or packaging?

I’ve recently seen hardware with dealer’s sticker on the bottom of enclosure. If it’s allowed - is this a popular practice in your country?

Considering they allow+support the “branding kit” to add your own logo to software and remove Mikrotik from SNMP MIB… I’m cannot think of how adding a sticker be any issue. But if you’re a distributor or retailer, you’d have to look at any contracts with Mikrotik on such things.

Now… what you may not want to do is hide the Mikrotik sticker, IMO. That has regulatory information that be may be required to be visible on the device. Like the FCC ID in US (and LTE requires the “contains FCC ID” for any modems). So replacing the Mikrotik label may be problematic, at least in US under FCC rules. I have to presume EU/ETSI/etc and other countries have similar rules on what’s must be on the sticker.

But I’ve never seen a dealer’s sticker on a device.

The branding kit scenario is something entirely different, it’s a product for ISPs etc. Immediately after you finish the exchange with your reseller of choice (eg. they’ve accepted your cash and you’ve accepted your brand new device) they no longer have any rights whatsoever to aforementioned device. As a buyer you expect to get exactly identical MikroTik from any distribution channel at least within your country of residence (both in terms of default config and appearance).

At least here in Poland it will be problematic, too. Probably the same for the rest of EU member countries.

I’ve seen it several times and even own one device (RB850Gx2) that has both distributor’s sticker and MikroTik’s sticker visible (in this very case distributor manufactured a custom rackmount case for this device).
