Are there any issues with disabling the "admin" account?

In the interest of security, I’d like to add an account with full access, and disable the account with the name “admin.”

Does RouterOS care if this account is disabled? Will there be any issues with services or other OS-level items not executing properly because the admin account is no longer active/available? I’ve seen some posts where this is suggested, but nothing that discusses the consequences of that act.

Just create new account with full rights, delete admin and log out. Login will be available only for the new user.

Thank you. I’ve already added the new account, I will go ahead and delete admin.

just to be sure, relogin with the new account first

otherwise, if you mistyped the password or something, you will not be able to log back in

Always a good piece of advice. I’ve never never never made a major change and had to start over from the beginning because I didn’t test it first :unamused: At least, not that I will admit to…
