Asisgning Public IP to MikroTik..

I have a following scenario.

1):-Our company has RouterOS v3.30 residing on a remote location having public subnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/26. So, we have pretty good pool of public IP’s available.

2):- In our local office we have RB433AH, residing behind an ADSL modem.

Now, I want to assign one of the public ip to our RB433, once it establishes VPN to connection to the remote ROuterOS. The public ip assignment works fine in case of windows VPN client. But it doesnt work for local MikroTik.

I have followed steps mentioned in http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Firewall_nat#Basic_examples but still cant reslove my issue.

hmmm… I can’t see any differences between windows client and routeros client in that case…

Yes, thats really strange and I cant understand why it doesnt work in case of local MT.

What should be the local address in case of public ip assignment thru vpn?

Can it be any proper IP?

yes, Local IP is any IP address, that will be server’s address for that client

It may sound naive, but I have followed this over and over again. The thing is local MT keeps on disconnecting after 30secs or so. This happens only in the case of public IP assignment.

If I assign local MT a private IP i.e. 10.10.xxx.xxx it stays connected.

Any comments?
