I have a RB4011, and I want to bypass the AT&T Gateway equipment. Using instructions from the 8311 PON website, I purchased a WAS-110 SFP+ PON on a stick. It comes preconfigured with an IP address of 192.168.11.1. I inserted this into the SFP+ port on the 4011 and configured the following:
I assigned an IP address of 192.168.11.2 to the SFP port (this port is already on the bridge).
I set a firewall rule to allow communication between 192.168.11.1 and my 192.168.60.0/24 main LAN network.
ROS automatically set a route for this connection. The SFP+ is running as a slave interface.
I use a similar protocol and firewall rules to communicate with my HomeAssistant controller at IP= 10.10.1.201
I can’t communicate with the device at 192.168.11.1. I know I’ve missed something simple, but I can’t find it. My complete config file is attached, with PWs and Wireguard keys removed.
I think you need to navigate to the GUI of the SFP and change the serial number to match the ATT BGW router you are trying to emulate.
You can bridge the SFP port with an Ethernet port. Set your PC on 192.168.11.100 and see if you can ping the SFP device at 192.168.11.1
If you can ping it, open a browser and try to navigate to 192.168.11.1. It looks like you need to be able to SSH to that address as well.
Thanks for the help. I found my SFP+ device, with the community software installed, had a default IP of 192.168.1.1, NOT 192.168.11.1, as mentioned in the guides. After finally accessing the device and fully configuring it, I couldn’t get the AT&T fiber to work. I found that my service is GPON, the device I have works with XGS-PON. I need to return it, get the correct one, and try again.
