I am used to using RB/532a with an EMP-8602 for indoor or small outdoor area Hotspotting. I am wondering if I can use an RB/532a without the EMP-8602 installed, and use an EngeniusTech EOC-3220 EXT as the AP and still have Radio access control. I know that I can HotSpot the Interface with the Ehternet connection to the AP, but I more interested in knowing if I have any of the Mangle or Queue features to control associations, and access to the AP. I would normally assume that I don’t without the radio being in a RB with minipci slot. But then I am amazed everyday at what routerOS can do. The other reason I ask this is because I was thinking of using WDS from the one EOC-3220-EXT to reach two other EOC-3220’s. I know that will cause a lot of overhead traffic, but if RouterOS can still control client associations to the AP/WDS AP’s then it wouldn’t be a problem.
If this is a pie in the sky dream then my other thought was to do the following.
Location A 1 RB532A with 1 EMP-8602 (b/g AP) and 1 RB R52 (a - p2p to Location B)
Location B 1 RB532A with 1 EMP-8602 (b/g AP) and 1 RB R52 (a - p2p to locaction A)
I am just not sure whether to use WDS on the 802.11a or something else to effect a ethernet connection, considering that I want to make both location A and Location B a hotspot and preferrably one that allows access to both locations after initial Logon Success.
Please let me know what would be the best option or if you have a better solution please present it. I have the following Equipment on hand:
2 RB/532a (Wrap 1-E1’s actually old stock, 2 nic, 2 minipci)
3 Engenius EMP-8602 400mw a/g minipci radios
2 RB R52 minipci radios
1 RB 153 (5 nic 3 minipci - don’t think it can handle the 50 concurrent HotSpot users)
Thank You.
