I’ve had a MikroTik RB532 with an Atheros AR5212 AP Bridge set up for quite a while now and have never had any trouble seeing it until I received a new dell laptop with an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card in it. It has no trouble seeing or connecting to any other WAP I’ve seen so far, but for some reason when I use it with my Mikrotik it doesn’t show up. I can see probe requests from my MAC if I sniff the traffic with the Mikrotik, but the SSID doesn’t show up in my Wireless Zero Config. I’ve tried switching channels SSIDs bands & MACs on the Mikrotik and had no luck. I have 3 other computers on it including another dell with an older Intel card. Any Ideas?
You have to install the latest version 2.9.39,
then make sure that ‘proprietary extension’ is configured on the router ‘interface wireless set wlan1 proprietary-extensions=post-2.9.25’.
The following option is implemented specially for Intel PCI-E cards opertaion.
If I upgrade the the newest version…what does that do to my licensing? Seems like I read somewhere for every upgrade you have to buy a new license is that true?
It depends on current license state, post here the results from,
‘system license print’ and ‘system package print’.
Tried to erase my previous post…

You can upgrade to 2.9.39 version (the latest one), use netinstall to accomplish this,

Is there a negative to using FTP?
FTP method will not work in this case, because current license is expired. In the past you will need to obtain new license, but due to our license policy changes, you have the opportunity to upgrade the following router.
It is possible only with netinstall.
Thank you very much for your input. It has been very helpful.
