Atheros extended range doesrx sensitivities of around -120!?

Atheros extended range enables rx sensitivities of around -120 dB on supported cards however RouterOS does not support this feature YET Smile

is this true? -120 rx sens?? if so this could be a game changer…so why does MT not support this YET???

im assuming its not all its hyped to be or else mt would have already supported it..

any input?
tks

Sensitivity above your noise floor isn’t going to help any. If you have a quiet, -90dBm noise floor, a radio with a -90dBm sensitivity will work just as well as one with -120dBm.

Just quick reading says it uses a proprietary modulation for the lower speeds.

It might perform as advertised, however it will drop speeds and overall performance when used, same as a weak client.

It doesn’t look like it would be beneficial for large scale use.

It simply called “XR” feature. It introduce 4 new bitrate level: 3-1-0,5-0,25 Mbps.
-120dBm is not true.
It’s -105dBm for about 250kbps (raw).

Support for XR has been asked for before.
I’m going to put it in the “beta feature request” on the Wiki now.
Anyone who wants further range/reach from their towers but at lower data rates, please vote for it.

IMHO chipset used in XR cards is supported by MT already, isn’t it?
