Hi!
I bought a pair of Wireless Wire Dish (aka LHGG-60ad) and I want to ask why they don’t include auto lock nuts instead of the usual nuts.
Any problem to use this kind of nuts on exteriors?
Regards,
If you mean these

, the set contains spring washers instead and I’d expect it is for two reasons:
- the self-locking nuts should officially not be released after tightening as that affects their self-locking operation, and you need to tighten and release the nuts during alignment, while the spring washers prevent the nuts from releasing as well and can be repeatedly tightened and released without affecting functionality;
- in outdoor conditions, given the temperature range causing the length of the screw to change by maybe several tenths of millimeter, I personally believe that the spring washers are a better choice.
I understand your answer perfectly, but what about the nuts which link the dish and the mounting kit?
These are subject to temperature changes as well. So if neither the spring washers nor the self-locking nuts are there (I haven’t seen the kit physically), I think it is a design or logistic fault. But if self-locking nuts are used at these places instead of spring washers, it’s probably because minor loosening of these due to temperature changes doesn’t cause the antenna to change direction, elevation, or even height.
The kit doesn’t includes auto lock nuts, that was my question for getting it more secured.
You can see it on the point 3 of the mounting guide PDF

The nuts are directly fitted on the mouting kit.
Well, the photo of the nuts which are welded to the bracket suggests that they do include the self-locking ring.
mmm, I’m thinking we need some power to fully tight they so they should have self-locking ring too.
Either your spellcheck has modified what you wrote or my English is not good enough. Are you saying that the screws fixing the mirror to the bracket are so short that when you tighten them, their tips do not reach the ring in the nuts? Or that when you try to screw the screws in from the rear side, the ring allows them to screw in freely, i.e. it actually is not a self-locking one?
It was a typo sorry. Half = have
I changed it.
