Auto TX power setting on cpe

We have a large number of Mikrotik AP’s deployed with PW 120’ Vertical sectors. We run ch 1 on sector 0, 6 on 120, and 11 on 240. We recently discovered that we are causing our own high noise levels. For example, we have tower A with CPE connecting to sector 240. We have tower b 6 miles from a on an azimuth of 240. So a CPE connected to tower b is hitting the 240 sector of tower a and b. We manually adjusted the tx power down on tower b CPE so the ap on tower b was receiving the cpe around 70. It completely fixed our problems on tower a.

What is the best way to handle issues of this type. It would be great if the cpe could automatically adjust it’s tx level as many mesh systems do. If not then as tree leaf out in the spring we will have to adjust many cpe tx levels again.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Tom

maybe you can use scripting to see what power you have, and to adjust the tx-power setting -5 if it hits a certain threshold. and if it goes below some setting, set it +5 again

I think you are correct, we don’t have anyone in the company at this time that writes scripts. I downloaded the Dude last night and discovered CPE on a couple of sectors. I am very impressed with the improvments over earlier versions. We are going to setup a new server to start implementing the Dude.

Does the Dude have timed events? If so can we periodically review the power levels received from CPE and use smnp writes to adjust the power levels based upon data gathered by the Dude? Then if we had a script on the CPE that if we lost registration to the AP for over x minutes it would do as you suggested bump the TX up a few dB at a time.

Do you think we on the correct path?

Thanks
