Automatic bypass based on MAC address and IEEE lookup

I would like to see some sort of implementation where the router can automatically bypass a device based upon its MAC address i.e. for hotspot networks. I know people could spoof a MAC address, but this would be greatly beneficial. Also, I would like to see some sort of IEEE lookup where it can tell you the manufacture right off the bat without having to go to IEEE website.

good fortune.

If it only came true… :frowning:

Any word on that Normunds for possible updates?

The DB of all MAC registered at IEEE have 19511 entries…

A simple solution instead of IEEE lookups would be to allow MAC/MAC mask filtering (not unlike IP/mask), or wildcards in MAC addresses (even regexp) for filtering purposes.
And this not only for hotspot bypass, but on all MAC matching operations (e.g. bridge filters).

Just Apple have 303 MAC…

This would be primarily for Xbox’s and Playstations.. not anything else.

You must know all the MAC address interval.

You can not use generic “Sony” MAC, because you also block all other Sony device, like VAIO, etc.
