Hey guys,
I bought the mikrotik AP RBCAP2ND and I have this problem. Once for some time I cannot connect to WiFi and I can’t connect even to Mikrotik via Winbox. I can ping his IP but cannot log via winbox.
All I can do is reboot him, then all config is uploaded back. I am newbie, my config is just default via “quick set”.
As the first thing to do I would upgrade to the current long-term (6.47.10 as of writing this), including upgrading the bootloader (“firmware”) in the second step (the firmware comes bundled with the RouterOS but needs to be flashed separately once the new version of RouterOS is already running).
Next, do you use the Mikrotik provided AC adaptor to power the device, or some other one? In either case, what are its output parameters (voltage/power/current, any two of these are necessary)? And also in either case, for how long has it been in operation? And how long is the Ethernet cable between the power injector and the cAP?
30 m should be fine with the original 24 V adaptor, unless the cable is extremely bad. Did you have the problems ever since you’ve switched the device on for the first time, or did they appear recently? A frequent issue is drying electrolytic capacitors in the power adaptors, and to a lower extent also in the devices themselves, but this kind of issue should not appear sooner than after two years of use.
Let’s see what the behaviour will be with 6.47.10. What was the longest time to the failure until now?
