Automonitoring

Hi Everyone,

We’ve got intalled The Dude in a Windows Server 2003. Sometimes it has a conflict with McAfee and CPU arrive at 100% of use.

I would like to know how could we monitor de CPU of the server in order to know when it is more than 80% of use.

Do we need to install a Dude agent? Do we need to activate any Windows function?

If I try to autodiscover the machine, these are the service that appear automatically:

Thank you so much for your help in advance,
Marcos.

Monitor with SNMP and use the CPU probe.

I tried but always down…:frowning:

Can you snmp walk the box if not then snmp is not setup right?

Which profile is better V1-public or V2-public and on router snmp Trap version 1 , 2 or 3 ?

You create your own snmp Community, “public” is a generic community.

Please google “how to enable SNMP” winXP or your flavor of windows.

Hey thanks for the karma, be careful with SNMP you can auto discover your network and it could cause high router CPU utilization since the dude tries to automatically add services to discovered devices. I think the biggest issue is when you auto discover a router with a huge number of routes, like a BGP connected router or a router with a weak CPU.

Ok Lebowski, thank you so much.

My main problem know is try to solve an incopatibility between Dude and McAfee antivirus. If the antivirus starts scanning Dude gets the 100% of CPU. My chief gave me until friday to solve this issue or I will have to uninstall my favorite monitoring tool :frowning: :open_mouth:

Simply exclude the Dude folder from being scanned?

Tomaskir, that’s what I’m going to try. I will let you know after the test.

In the other hand, the SNMP is working perfectly know!
