Does working with a multipoint link using NetMetal and an AX/AC configuration, with various CPEs (some AC and others AX) connected to the same access point, degrade NetMetal performance?
Having mixed (ax and ac) clients doesn't by itself slow AP down. Faster stations will still get faster service.
However, slower stations will consume more airtime than faster ones to move same amount of data, on a congested AP that means lower average throughput which affects all stations (fast and slow ones).
But the same is true also for fast (ax) stations if their radio link is not perfect - they will fall back to more robust (and thus slower) modulations (and codings) effectively becoming ac (or even N) stations.
Simply put:
The AX model in no way replaces the performance or functionality of the AC models you already have on service.
You lose a lot of useful features, replacing everything with standard 802.11,
which these days doesn't work as well as expected from other competitors because it doesn't use TDMA at all, etc.
Obviously I'm talking outside, and in "CPE mode"...
I am extremely grateful for your comments and it is now very clear to me where everything could go if I were to mix AX/AC
