AX wifi wave2 on CAP AX and HAP AX2

We removed unifi here at our home test site and after we did that WiFi is very unstable. Tried 7.11. Has hardware reset events. 7.12beta1 is unstable.

Any version that is working?

You are aware that there is a nice search option on this forum?
And if you want some in depth feedback, please share your config:

/export file=anynameyoulike

Make sure to remove serial and any private information (like public IP address)

Nice! I like answers like yours.

And yet it is the most correct one…

You do not specify what is unstable, what behavior do you see which is unexpected, how did you configure your devices, …
As of 7.10 (beta, stable and rc version) I have not seen any wifi problems on home AX2/3 (standalone) nor work AX3/cap AX devices (under capsman control).

We all like questions like: “Doctor, I coughed … what pills should I take and when I recover?”

  • What devices do you use?
    What is the configuration?
Does ROS 6 works as expected if it was in use?
    What is the topology?

We all do not have crystal balls to know your configuration.

AX devices, dear Watson

Did you use 7.11 or is 7.10 the last one? With 7.11 I got some „hardware resets“ resulting DFS Scan …. With 7.12beta1 I have sporadic „SA query timeout“ with -61 dbm signal …

  1. Look at topic
  2. A running wave2 capsman config. This is not the problem
  3. Was a wave2 package in ros 6?
  4. At a wireless stabilty problem the topology is mostly not relevant.

I used at home pretty much all beta and rc versions of whatever 7.x release.
Currently 7.11. Didn’t have time yet to install latest beta before leaving for holidays.

My oh my … are you sure you deserved holidays? :stuck_out_tongue:

Asking the question is answering it

We could play blind man’s buff game if you wish but:

  1. Yes … not focused on it … but it does not matter if not enough and proper info was in the whole original post.

  2. Which device CAPSMAN is installed on? Maybe moving to other one could help .. could be a problem. Who knows?

  3. No …

  4. Are you sure? Are these devices connected directly? Via other device? Do they stable “see” each other at L2 level? Maybe it makes the difference what devices they are connected to … just asking as we do not know LAN topology

  5. What means " Tried 7.11. Has hardvare resets events"? Which one? Both? When?

  6. What means “unstable”? Lost connectivity at all? Slow connections? Drops? Please elaborate

The more details the better answer could be. It’s you waiting for help so why not to help others to help you?

Thanks for respoonse. Problem solved. Band steering (introduced in 7.11) is the problem. disabled it with cli and problems are gone

Nice! I like answers like yours.

Where is that Band steering?

same question from me

It’s feature that “steers” client devices to more capable wireless network, for eg, in dual band APs, when client connects to AP, AP checks is this client dual band capable, and if it is, it “steers” client to connect to 5GHz radio where it can achieve better speeds and leaves 2.4 GHz spectrum for slower devices.

That way you don’t congest 2.4 GHz network even more and your more capable devices are connected to faster network
