Backup doesn't restore - Just goes back to previous settings

I have a backup that was made with

/system backup save encryption=aes-sha256 password=password name=“mybackup.backup”

I factory reset my router (the same router the backup was made from), dragged the file in with Winbox, and restored it.

However all that happens is the router reboots with the same default settings.

Any ideas?

As stated in wiki it doesn’t just end with uploading backup file to router, but You need to also load said backup with command:

/system backup load name=mybackup.backup

I uploaded the file with Winbox, then right clicked it, selected Restore and chose my password, and pressed OK. It restarted but it did not restore my backup.

Generate supout.rif and then e-mail it to them. Include backup if you want. Support is offering to look at your case for free. Please supply anything you can to explain your case:

  • what you are doing (apps, buttons, screen)
  • what you are seeing
  • what you expected to happen
  • what happens instead
