Backup file compatibility

I got hit by lighting at home this weekend and my RB2011UAS-RM needs to be replaced.
Is it possible to load the backup file from this unit into a RB2011UiAS-RM?
Thanks in advance.

Yes you can, only PoE-out on last 10th port is added,

but best way to save config is by export/ import .rsc file

Thanks.

Caution.
Backup is designed only for the original router. Things to note are the ROS version when the backup was taken. The Mac addresses will be overwritten if restored to a different router.

If you really need to extract the config -

  • Attempt to change the replacement router’s firmware to the same version.
Backup the new router (original backup).
    Restore the old router backup.
    Export the configuration.
Restore the new router’s original backup.
    Import the old router’s configuration.

Only on old Firmware Versions.

On newer Firmware only with verbose the Mac Address will be copied.

Wow, I didn’t know this. Is there a source / link ?

Verbose backup? There is anything like this as the backup already is full. Only the export can be verbose or shorted version.

Oh sorry didn´t read backup. Yes only at the Export you can use verbose…

Hi.
I had problems with export and import with two same model mikrotiks. I don’t remember firmware version.
I had defined IPSec tunnels and order in proposals, peers, policies creation is essential.
Same problem with dhcp server.

To solve the problems, I had to export section by section a import in order.
