backup WAN, separating traffic

Hi there,

My main ISP is having technical difficulties, so i’m thinking of getting a backup line: initially an LTE modem which can be set up quickly while waiting for the proper cable to come in in a few days.

In one of the ports on my router i have my work machine plugged in, which is the priority at the moment. The rest are ‘home network’ and not really relevant in terms of being affected by the primary ISP’s issues or not.

So my goal would be to be able to simply/efficiently switch that particular ‘work’ port between the different WAN lines. Is there a way to do that with minimal firewall activity? The type of data going through (PCoIP) is latency critical and i’m worried firewall based approaches might add a performance penalty.
I believe the standard method is marking packets, and then redirecting those packets, but most examples i’ve found are related to filtering certain type of traffic, which in my case is not important. I want all the traffic from a single port to go to either WAN1 or WAN2.

Thanks in advance,
Laszlo

This is so common question, searching 1m in my reply give: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/setup-multiple-isps/135247/1 and answer #9

Thanks, i did look through several solutions, but they were all filtering certain types of traffic (by IP range usually). I’ll check the link you provided, thanks!

Route Rules are the eazy way.
