Bad Experience with Mikrotik regarding License Key ! ! !

Dear All,

My router X86, ROS 6.31 stop from on dated 25-08-2015 at night, problem is hard disk damage. I have sent email to mikrotik support center on dated 26-08-2015 for license key. we have discussed regarding this issue from 26-08-15 TO 28-08-2015, and mikrotik inform me to send my mikrotik account ID to support center, I have sent it on dated 28-08-2015 after that any person of mikrotik support have not reply me yet now, Now I do not understand mikrotik give me license key Or NOT. I think, If mikrotik need any information then ask me, I will reply him. I am not clear why mikrotik is not replying of my mail.

So any body suggest/help me regarding this issue.

Best regards,

Nishadul

Whilst I try to avoid negativity towards Mikrotik, this doesn’t sound like a great experience. A recovery license may be required almost immediately to minimize down time and waiting weeks for a new one is baaad.

As far as I know even buying a new license can take a while if your card is not verified.

Anyway. You should read the relevant threads here and make your own tests before making any updates on your productive systems.

License is bound to hard disk. If you need a license on a new disk, you need to buy a new license anyway.
What support can offer, is discount for the new one, if you provide a clear description how or why your disk failed.

I know this is not very good news, but this is how RouterOS licenses work. Always use good quality disks and UPS system for power.

I know Mr. Normis reply me about this issue, many many thanks for your reply, if possible pl check my corresponding mail with mikrotik. I do not want to show it to mikrotik forum. My corresponding mail ticket number is [ Ticket#2015082666000189 ] HDD Damage.

In last two mail mikrotik support received from me My old software-id and my mikrotik logging name.

Again thank for your reply,

Regards,
Nishadul

Is there no way to get a free replacement license? If not it seems a little unfair.

Will this change with the future CHR licensing options?

This probably won’t be helpful right now, but if you run RouterOS in a VM instead of directly on the bare metal, you won’t have to worry about that issue as the license will be tied to the VM hard drive which can be moved to another hypervisor if the underlying hardware fails.

I assume the CHR will function much the same way but haven’t tested it yet,

I want to know from mikrotik, why not they give me the license key, if we purchase router board and if it damage in the warranty period then we get it replace new router, but why deference rule for ROS x86 license key. we not need hardware from mikrotik.

Hi there.Wanted to know - is there any way to change my active x86 lvl5 license to chr P1 or p10 license?
