Bad signal high, good signal lower

Hello

I have made a simple 5ghz link over 15kms, very clean LOS

One end is on a tower, the other is on a steel shed on a hill on a 3 meter pole.

I got bad signal -88 at 3 meters on the pole, after messing aroung for ever we found at 1 meter on the pole got -75 :open_mouth:

How can lowering a grid 2 meters on a pole make it so much better?

Thanks

Reflections from the steel shed probably , when you lowered it you found a ā€œdead zoneā€

Thanks

I posted on another forum and they said the same, they also said it could be bouncing of the ground.

This is something I never knew existed!

Thanks

You should also familiarise yourself with something called the Fresnel Zone… combine tis with reflections, and you are destined for interesting times!

My head started to hurt before I even clicked the link

I’m not as bright as some :open_mouth:

I’ll do some reading

Thanks
