I already posted in the beginners forum a few days ago, but didn’t get a reply there. Sorry for trying it again here, but I’m testing some stuff with my new 750G and I got some questions…
Most important are IP based bandwidth limits right now. Right now I got 9 simple queues, each allowing 5-20 IPs a certain speed upload and download. I made a rule for download and upload seperatly, since I remembered having read somewhere that was better than one rule for both.
Well, here are my questions:
Can I limit download bandwidth with queue trees as well? Or does the download limits only work with simple queues? I don’t need to prioritize within a simple queue yet. What are the advantages / disadvantages of simple queues under these circumstances?
Is the 750G too small to handle lets say 40-50 simple queues? If I go back to limiting download and upload in one queue, it’s have, around 20-25 queues.
Is the queue no. relevant? I have about 10 IPs right now that get limited at 10mbits, another 10 at 5mbits, all the rest should only get 2mbits (only download here; I got similar queues for the upload). “The rest” is defined with a rule that says “2mbit for everyone in 192.168.0.0/24”, but 192.168.0.0/24 includes the 10mbit IPs as well. So if the general 2mbit download queue is first in the list, 192.168.0.10 (who is supposed to be limited at 10mbit) won’t get his 10mbit, right? But does 192.168.0.10 get the 10mbit, if the 2mbit simple queue is number 2 in the simple queue list and number 1 says “10mbit for 192.168.0.10”?
What happens when the total download speed is maxed out? When I limit 10 IPs to get 10mbits, my theoretical max of 100mbits is maxed out. What happens, if they all require the speed and some other clients want a piece of the cake? Is the speed shared equally?
