Hi everyone,
I have mikrotik routerboard RB2011U Series and two APs (Ubiquiti APLR) connect to mikrotik router.
I am struggling to manage the internet bandwidth equally to all users or best configuration to manage it as most of the time users complain that they are experience slow browsing and sometime they got limited connectivity and when i reset the AP it goes well.
I have 10mb of internet bandwidth for 40-45 users, any suggestion/solution will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Amir
Couple of things:
- 10 Mbit for 40-45 users in current days is not a lot, but still it should allow for 200 Kbit per user with a practical maximum of 90% of the theoretical 10Mbit.
- 2 APs for 40-45 user is not a lot. Given your comment on ‘resetting the AP’ I wouldn’t be surprised if the root cause of (or at least a factor contributing to) your connection issues is the number of clients per AP and I’d to further investigate if issues persist
For distribution the 10 Mbit, you can use http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Queue#PCQ.
A simple queue of the PCQ type with max-limit=9M/9M evenly chops up the bandwidth based on demand while leaving some headroom for other traffic, overhead or other unreliability. Of course this is very basic, but you get the idea.
