Hello,
I set up a free wifi in my institute.
The problem is that some of my students download too much.
How can I limit download for each person?
The students connect with their tablets, cell phones or laptops and I don’t have their IP or MAC address.
I want to have a limited (Say 2Gb) download every day. Is it possible?
The easiest thing to do is set up per client queueing (PCQ) and use that to rate limit per IP address. This won’t limit total download per person, but instead just limits the maximum download rate per IP.
Limiting the total amount downloaded per day is possible but much more difficult, since then you need a RADIUS server and user authentication per person.
I believe address lists" can assist you
and new connections can go on a list
And this list can be throttled per connection
