RouterOS Beginner Basics

Home network is
MikroTik RB5009 connected to fibre modem ( I am in UK so BT - pppoe connection. I can login and get zip address) ip address locally 192.168.88.1. This is doing DHCP and NAT.

Connected to this by Ethernet is AP ( MikroTik hap3) 192.168.88.2.

Have set RB as router , AP as bridge.

I cannot ping out to 8.8.8.8
I cannot ping even 192.168.88.2 ( my AP, have tested cable)
I cannot access internet.

I have been through all the settings many times.

It seems mostly ok.

I would disable/remove the following firewall rules, but doubt they
will change anything.

(First 2 firewall filter rules)

Can you plug your computer into the router, and get a 192.168.88.x ip address, (and connect to the router)
If so, likely the AP has something wrong with its config.

Are you using winbox, if so you should be able to connect via mac address.

In ip route, do you have a 0.0.0.0/0 route?

Take a look at the Log, it is often quite helpful.

Do you perhaps have another device that is connected that is also handing out DHCP.

Reboot router??

Many thanks for looking at my config, - reassuring. The problem turned out to be a “ \n “ had crept into the BT username ! .
