I'm a little bit afraid of them not giving any approx resolution time. It's just us, who invested in a not very cheap product and can't use it for more than a month, against an unknown amount of time with no info. It would have been nice if they at least shared some details and proved to everyone waiting that the problem is at least completely fixable at the software level.
I got the same reply from Mikrotik.
I was using my old router for a while, but once I saw this line on the 7.24 changelog decided to give another shot to the hap be3
*) ethernet - disable EEE on hAP be3 Media;
It has been working stable for about 3 days now, I will report if the problem reoccurs.
that didn't help in my case. now on 7.24.1, waiting for the failure ![]()
yep. i woke up today with no internet again. damn...
This doesn’t work. I gave it another chance today with a completely fresh configuration—no extras at all, even keeping the factory firewall rules—and in less than 24 hours it started doing the same thing again. It’s absolutely terrible.
I’ll most likely return it to the retailer and stop wasting time on this nonsense. I’ll wait a year or two until they fix it, and maybe then I’ll buy one again. This is not professional.
It's the same for me, but I hope they'll fix it soon otherwise, I'll return it to the seller, too.
Yesterday tried not using the ether1 in my config as someone suggested. Same thing again this morning...
I finally got mine delivered yesterday.
I only setup one of the units, and in a temporary setup so far, but it’s been around 12 hours since last reboot (as part of me setting it up), and I haven’t seen any port flapping at all.
4/5 of the ports are in use, including eth1 with 2.5Gb connection, as well as another 2.5Gbz connection over one of the 2-4 ports, as well as a couple of 1Gb connections.
I’ll keep monitoring and update. I do wonder how much the clients themselves have influence over this, rather than it being a HW issue.
I've got a testing firmware from support today and seems like it has fixed the problems. It's too early to be 100% sure, but for 4 hours everything is quite stable. I'll keep monitoring and reporting. At leats it is a good sing of the problem being fixable at software level.
What is this test firmware, give us more information?
If you have an official support ticket, you can ask there, I'm not sure if it is ok to share it here.
It's only for routeros and wifi packages btw, so no iot or zerotier or anything else. Completely testing one.
I'd advise to have patience, it's already working (somehow), so should be out in the coming 7.25rc
Just a post to let you know that my unit is still completely fine and that the support confirmed that the fix is coming in the next release
Are you sure about this information? I raised an official JIRA ticket and they asked me about support.rif and didn't seem to understand the problem at all. Hopefully they actually managed to identify it.
Out of my own experience. To ask the supout is a normal way of diagnosing
I also wrote to them and it turned out that they are aware of the problem - they managed to localize it and also sent me test packages, which I'm already testing. It's too early to provide feedback yet, since I've only been online for a few hours.
I will provide information if the problem is fixed.
P.S. Extremely fast and competent response from their side - I'm impressed with the support.
how is your wireless doing? mine seems to be quite laggy and sluggish. I even can't connect to it sometimes. not sure if it is because of the testing firmware or it was there, as the network worked poorly as whole before, and the problem wasn't obvious
So it’s been 5-6 days, still on latest stable and I had no port flapping issues at all. At this point I’m guessing it really is likely to be some edge case with clients rather than a widespread issue with the device itself.
I’m probably not the best person to answer that, because the only unit I installed so far is within a room with a large aquarium, with T-Slot stand and right behind it we have a bomb shelter. And to top it off - tons of interference from nehibours. So the worst kind of conditions possible.
That said, even with these constrains:
- 2.4 is crappy - but it’s also what is being observed the most by saltwater.
- 5Ghz is great. I do run on 80Mhz because I need to penetrate the reinforced walls - I’m getting around 250Mbit with 1 wall (+aquarium), and 130Mbit across two walls in the room behind (bomb shelter + the room behind it). Within the same room as the router I’m getting 600-800.
- 6Ghz - didn’t test outside the room, but within the same room I can easily get 900Mbit to 1.7Gbit.
I will also add, that at first I had some problems with 5Ghz till I locked it to a less condensed frequency range, and also set the antenna gain to 0 so that it would radiate a bit more power - but it was mostly due to poor penetration in my specific case.
I plan to install the second unit in a few days, and it will be in a more open space with less interference, so the results will be more comparable to a normal environment.
24 hours later, the router is running very stable and the port flapping issue is completely gone. Until now, it couldn’t even make it past 8 hours, so this is a very good sign. Looking forward to a stable release.
7.24.2 is out with the fix for the initial problem
