Beamforming antenna element

I will use Atheros AR9380 3x3 MIMO WiFi adapter on x86.

Will Beamforming function with every type of antenna?

I am planing sector antennas with an antenna element distance of 1/2 Wavelength.

Not familiar with this chipset but … is it capable of combine 3 antennas at an “analog way” (plus amplitude and phase) to create a stereable beam array?
