Beginner _ Please help me

Hello every body
I’m new in this system and i don’t know anything about it and i want to use it because i have router dir-300 with 12 users through Wi-Fi and Cable for that i want to control them , so i heard that software is very good for these things , i have win xp i want to use it with xp , can i ? how ? i used last version from mikrotik i downloaded from website but i couldn’t or i didn’t know how to use it … please help me i want to use this software sooner or later …

There is a manual and there are consultants. If you don’t know basics about networking and Linux you should really do some research and come back.

To use Mikrotik, you need a dedicated PC (or VMware) to act as the firewall. Then read all the wiki threads, and how-tos. After that, try to set up a basic firewall and then your questions will mean more once we know what you are trying to do…

I used a lot of the how-tos and wiki examples to set up the basic router. I use it for 5 WAN addresses, directed to specific LAN sites, and it works well.

I agree that for a beginner, it is very cryptic and not easy to understand. It seems Mikrotik is geared for the intermediate or advanced users, not beginners when it comes to configuration and use. But, try anyway, it does work.
