I’ve been setting up a RB2011 (and now a 3011) as a gateway router for a private network. I initially used quickset to get the basic configuration - ether1 as a WAN port, with a public IP address, the other ports bridged on a private lan (192.168.0.0/24) with NAT routing. It’s all working, and I’m just using the default firewall settings (plus a single port forward that I’ve added). But I have a few questions:
-
Is there anywhere in the webfig that displays the link speed of each port? I know I can see it using the /interface ethernet monitor command in a terminal, but would be useful to see them all at a glance in the gui.
-
The routting speed/throughput of these devices - the RB2011 I can get 140mb using speedtest.net The incoming intenet feed is supposed to be 300mbs, and testing directly on that I’m seeing speeds around that. Is 140mbs the realistic max capability of the 2011? I’m just about to swap it for a 3011, is that likely to provide the throughput we’re hoping for?

Following above, I’ve not got any fasttrack configured in the router. Is that an approriate thing to enable in this configuration? I’m not sure where to start with adding the necessary settings for it, have read some info online, but not totally confident with them.
